8 ChatGPT Prompts for Blogging to Rank Higher on Google

You might have heard that the U.S. government might ban TikTok, which is shocking news to creators and businesses that have spent the last four years building their brands on TikTok.

Do you know what has remained a constant over the past 20+ years? Good ol’ unglamorous blogging.

Social media platforms come and go, but blogging is about putting your insights on the Internet for the long haul to make good friends with Google.

The trick to effective blogging is to keep your content high-quality and responsive to specific Google search queries. Do this well, and Google starts seeing you as the go-to subject matter expert. This means that Google will send you more ideal readers and clients whenever your blog post is responsive to search queries.

Blogging is still relevant in the AI era

With AI everywhere now, though, you might wonder if blogging is still relevant.

Absolutely—blogging is relevant now and will likely be for as long as Google exists.

Google processes 8 billion searches daily, and 90% of online experiences begin with a search engine. So yeah, blogging doesn’t look like it’s going away anytime soon.

But to stay ahead, your blog posts have to evolve, incorporating more personal experiences, multimedia-like videos, and high-quality content to distinguish good posts from the flood of AI-generated garbage.

Blogging obviously takes a lot of time, but it can be incredibly rewarding if done well. Blogging can establish your authority and rank you highly in Google, which can then attract your ideal clients.

That’s why I’ve been blogging for about the past year. It was painful until I started using my new robot bff, ChatGPT, to help with blogging.

What makes for a good blog post?

You might be wondering, what exactly makes a good blog post? Here's a quick rundown of the key ingredients:

  • SEO-Optimized: The blog post is specific enough to respond to an SEO search query, which helps your site rank higher on Google.

  • Builds Credibility: The content should establish your expertise and authority in your field.

  • Skimmable: Easy to read through quickly; use subheadings, bullet points, and short paragraphs to break up text.

  • Length Matters: Aim for around 2,000 words to thoroughly cover the topic and improve SEO

  • Call to Action: Always include a call to action, whether it’s inviting readers to sign up for a freebie or to schedule a discovery call.

  • Visual Appeal: Include at least one graphic or image to break up the text and engage readers visually—no one wants to slog through a wall of text.

These elements combine to create a blog post that draws readers in and keeps them engaged and taking action.

These ChatGPT Blogging Prompts Slashed My Blogging Hours By 50%

I've been using ChatGPT for blogging for over a year, and HOLY MOLY—ChatGPT has reduced my blogging time by about 50%.

And the content? It’s so much better.

This post took me about 4 hours—an hour to do SEO research, an hour to write, and two hours to finalize and post. Pre-ChatGPT, writing this would have taken me 8-9 hours.

I use ChatGPT for almost all aspects of blogging, except for one critical thing—I outline the posts myself. Posts written solely by ChatGPT can still fall short because they’re too general and written in cheesy language.

So, I'm going to walk you through how I use ChatGPT to create blog posts, using this very post as an example. More specifically, we'll discuss using ChatGPT prompts effectively for blogging.

Understanding ChatGPT Prompts: The Gateway to Better ChatGPT Responses

You might be wondering, what exactly are prompts? Prompts are the questions or statements you give ChatGPT to guide responses. The key to getting the best output from ChatGPT lies in the specificity of your prompt—the more specific it is, the better and more targeted the response will be. Conversely, the more generic your prompt, the less useful the output tends to be.

To maximize ChatGPT's effectiveness, provide as much context as possible. Tell it about who you are, what you do, whom you serve, and what you specifically need from the interaction. This detailed approach helps ChatGPT tailor its responses more accurately to your needs.

ChatGPT Blogging Prompt 1: "I’m a (detail your business and the services you provide), targeting these ideal customers (describe your target audience). I’ve already created posts with the following titles: Can you suggest 10 topics I should blog about?"

Use this prompt to generate blog post ideas. Once you have your ideas, consider using a keyword search tool like UberSuggest or SEMrush to evaluate each blog topic and choose those with the highest potential traffic.

Remember to hit the ChatGPT regenerate button at least once. This will give you a fresh batch of ideas.

When I used this approach, one of the topics ChatGPT generated was 'ChatGPT for blogging.' I then logged into SEMrush, researched keywords, and targeted the term "ChatGPT prompts for blogging." Based on this, I asked ChatGPT for further suggestions about writing this blog post.

ChatGPT Blogging Prompt 2: "I'd like to write a blog post targeting this SEO keyword: (insert keyword). Can you draft a bullet-pointed outline?"

There's nothing more daunting than staring at a blank page. Once you've selected your keyword, ask ChatGPT to help draft a structured outline for your post to give you a starting point.

Also, remember to hit the ChatGPT regenerate button at least once. This will help generate a wealth of new ideas and perspectives on what to write about, ensuring your content is both fresh and engaging.

ChatGPT Blogging Prompt 3: "Can you suggest 5 FAQs I should include in this post?"

Also, ask ChatGPT for FAQs to ensure your content is as comprehensive as possible. Google favors posts that are around 2000 words, so the more detailed the content, the better.

Again, remember to hit the ChatGPT regenerate button at least once. This will help you uncover many new ideas and ensure your post covers diverse aspects of your topic.

ChatGPT Blogging Prompt 4: Can you polish this text:

After I finish writing each blog post, I review it section by section, keeping each segment around 250 words or so, and ask ChatGPT to polish the text. This method is incredibly effective for enhancing the quality of the content without losing my voice.

ChatGPT Blogging Prompt 5: Suggest 5 sub-headlines for this section.

Once I finish each section of my blog post, I ask ChatGPT for subheadlines. This approach is particularly beneficial as people skim through blog posts and websites. Breaking the text into manageable sections of about 250-300 words and adding subheadings makes the content easier to digest.

Additionally, using more headings provides more opportunities to incorporate your SEO keywords, which can significantly enhance your post's visibility in search results.

ChatGPT Blogging Prompt 6: Suggest 5 titles for this post using the SEO keyword:

After finishing my post, I input the entire text into ChatGPT and ask for title suggestions. I hit the regenerate button at least twice to get the best possible options.

Then, I input these titles into a headline analyzer like CoSchedule to determine the most engaging one. I typically choose the first title that scores above 70. This method helps me craft headlines that are likely to attract more readers.

ChatGPT Blogging Prompt 7: Draft a meta description for this blog post:

Finally, I asked ChatGPT to draft a meta description that includes the SEO keyword that my blog post targets. ChatGPT excels at crafting meta descriptions as it is best equipped to handle straightforward, analytical content. This ensures that the meta description is informative and optimized for search engines, helping to improve the post's visibility.

ChatGPT Blogging Prompt 8: Draft a post to share this blog post on LinkedIn, Twitter, and Instagram.

Don’t let your blog post sit on your blog—get the word out! Ask ChatGPT to draft tailored posts for your social media platforms to make sharing easier. Whether it’s LinkedIn, Twitter, or Instagram, having a custom message for each platform can really help boost your content's reach and engagement. Having this type of content saved also makes it easy to re-share the post later.
